Owosso school board takes up 2026-27 courses, science textbooks and student handbooks
July's agenda packed the year-ahead housekeeping — course offerings, textbook adoption, new hires — plus recognition for all-state softball athletes.
The Owosso Public Schools Board of Education met Wednesday, July 22 at the Owosso Performing Arts Center with a consent agenda covering the building blocks of the 2026-27 school year.
Items up for action, per the meeting agenda: course offerings for 2026-27, adoption of new science textbooks for Owosso High School and Lincoln High School, student handbooks, policy updates from the Thrun law firm, disposal of obsolete band materials, new hires, and a correction to the superintendent's contract.
The meeting opened with building reports and recognition of the district's all-state softball athletes.
Coming up for future action
The board listed four items for future action: an OHS choir trip to Chicago, disposal of obsolete technology materials, SkillsUSA's Washington Leadership Training Institute in September 2026, and the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in June 2027.
The agenda also included a closed session for the superintendent's mid-year evaluation.
What happens next: The board's Committee of the Whole meets Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 5:30 p.m. in Washington Campus Conference Room 112, and the next regular meeting is Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the PAC.
