Durand council to meet Aug. 3, with closed session on Union Station lawsuit

The Durand City Council meets in regular session at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, according to the agenda posted by the city. Mayor Pro-tem Folaron is listed to call the meeting to order.

The agenda includes a closed session under MCL 15.268(1)(e) "to consult with legal counsel regarding trial and settlement strategy" in the case of Durand Union Station Inc. v. City of Durand, Case No. 2026-1854-CH, which the agenda says is pending in Shiawassee County Circuit Court. The agenda does not describe the claims in the case or any proposed settlement terms.

Four items are listed under items of business: approval of a SATA invoice, approval of a CN resolution, approval of a wheel balancer proposal, and approval of the FY26-27 schedule of chamber events. A fifth line is listed as "Other." The agenda does not include dollar amounts or supporting detail for any of the four items.

Council is also scheduled to approve minutes from the July 20, 2026, regular meeting and to approve bills numbered 60152 through 60197. The agenda does not state a total for the bills.

Two public comment periods are on the agenda. The first, "Hearing of Representatives and Citizens Present," is followed by a council response period.
